Prof. Ashraf is the head of the Respiratory Division at Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi. He graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1997and did his training in Internal Medicine and Respirology at university of Toronto, Canada where he was board certified in both specialties in Canada and the USA. Since his arrival in UAE, He managed to develop a state of the art patient services in the Respiratory Medicine Division T Zayed Hospital.
In 2007, he was appointed as Clinical Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAE University.
Prof. Ashraf Al Zaabi won many distinguished awards such as the prestigious Murray Muirhead Award from the University of Toronto and in 2013 he won the Abu Dhabi Medical Distinction Award in clinical performance launched by the Health Authority in Abu Dhabi.

Prof. Bassam Mahboub

Dr. Bassam is the Program Director of care model innovation at Dubai Health Authority, Assistant Dean at the College of Medicine, Sharjah University. He is a graduate of U.A.E. University, Al Ain. He is American board-certified in (internal medicine, allergy, and clinical immunology, and pulmonology) from university of Toronto. He also has Masters in Business administration from Wolverhampton University.
He is a Consultant Pulmonologist and the Head of Pulmonary Medicine, Rashid hospital under Dubai Health Authority, UAE. He is also head of emirates allergy and respiratory society. Besides, he holds the position of associate clinical professor, faculty of medicine, in Sharjah University and is the associate research fellow at Meakins Respiratory research centre, McGill University, Canada. Dr. Mahboub’s areas of interest are health innovation and respiratory care, as well as translation research in airway diseases.

Prof. Humid Al-Shamsi is American and Canadian board certified in Medical Oncology, He completed his medical degree in honors from the University College Cork in Ireland, and he completed internal medicine residency and medical oncology fellowship training at McMaster University in Canada.
He also completed a fellowship in Gl Oncology & Palliative oncology at McMaster University in 2013. He was appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Gl Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, the University of Texas from June 2014 until Dec 2016.
He is currently a consultant of oncology and director of Burjeel Cancer Institute Abou Dhabi UAE and holds a professor position at Sharjah University. He is the president of Emirates Oncology Society.
Prof. Al-Shamsi has extensive clinical and research experience in solid malignancies and he is a string advocate for palliative care in UAE.

Prof. Khaled Al-Kattan, graduated from King Saud University 1983, got his FRCS from Edinburgh with a gold medal in 1988. Appointed as an assistance professor at KSU in 1989, Associate professor in 1995 and then a full professor in 2000. He served as the director of continuous medical education at the college. He was a co-founder of both the Saudi thoracic society and Pan Arab Chest Society. He is the Middle East regent for the European Society of Thoracic Surgery. He is a member of many international societies and sits as a senior editor for the Annals of Thoracic Medicine journal. He is in the editorial board and reviewer of most of the international thoracic surgery journals. Have extensive research and publication in his field, presented many abstracts in international symposiums. He is the Chairman of the National Lung Cancer Study Group and the national lung transplant program.

Luca Richeldi is Chair and Head of the Division of Pulmonary Medicine Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences. He is currently a Professor of Respiratory Medicine and Chair of Degree Programme Committee Medicine and Surgery.
He is a member and the secretary of the “Infections and Tuberculosis” group of the Cochrane Collaboration. He serves as Associate Editor for the European Respiratory Journal and he is a Member of the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. He is also a Member of the Clinical Problems Assembly program committee of the American Thoracic Society. He has been part of the panels in charge of the production of the international guidelines on diagnosis and management of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and on consensus classification of the idiopathic interstitial pneumonia: these documents have been endorsed by the major international respiratory scientific societies, including the American Thoracic Society and the European Respiratory Society.

Prof. Al Hajjaj is also the president of Saudi Thoracic Society since January 2005. He has published and presented his research papers in numerous local and international journals and conferences.

He directs a patient-centered translational research program at the Firestone Institute of St Joseph’s Healthcare, focused on charactering bronchitis using sputum biomarkers and targeted therapy with biologics and small molecule antagonists. The research program has been recognized by a Canada Research Chair, The American Thoracic Society’s Ann Woolcock Award, The Asthma Society of Canada’s Bastable Potts Award, and fellowships of the European Respiratory Society, The American College of Chest Physicians, and the Collegium International Allergologicum.
His laboratory has contributed to over 300 peer-reviewed publications in high impact general medical, allergy, and respiratory journals

Prof. Peter Howarth

Prof Peter Howarth is currently Global Clinical Scientific Lead within the Global Specialty & Primary Care grouping in GSK. He joined GSK in 2016 on a part-time basis as a Global Medical Expert and transitioned to his current role in 2019. He was Professor of Allergy and Respiratory Medicine in Southampton and retains a link to Southampton, still having an academic research program and continuing to undertake clinical out-patient care for severe asthma.
Prof Howarth trained at the Royal London Hospital and after training posts in London and Southampton was appointed Senior Lecture and Honorary Consultant Physician in Southampton. He established the severe asthma and clinical allergy services in Southampton and has a long experience of dealing with asthma, particularly severe asthma, which remains the focus of his current research.
Prof Howarth has published over 350 peer-reviewed papers, with an H-index of 94 and has contributed to National, European and International (World Health Organization) guidelines on the management of rhinitis and asthma.

She qualified from Somerville College, Oxford University and St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College, University of London. She was elected as Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and is an NIHR Senior Investigator. She was awarded the Helmholtz International Fellow award in 2014.
Professor Wedzicha has a major interest in the causes, mechanisms, impact and prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbations, and in the role of bacterial and viral infection in COPD exacerbations. She directs an active research group specialising in COPD exacerbations, and has published extensively on this topic.
Professor Wedzicha chaired the English Department of the Health Home Oxygen Clinical User Group, and was a member of the Guideline Development Group for the revision of the National Institute for Healthcare and Clinical Excellence COPD Guidelines. She was a member of the Programme Board for the COPD National Clinical Strategy.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Mohammed

Dr. Ali Wahla

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Wahla worked as a consultant physician in the Department of Intensive Care at King Abdul Aziz Medical City, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for a year. Prior to his role in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Wahla worked as a Consultant Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Lahore, Pakistan. It was here that he co-established the first Interventional Pulmonary program in the country. During this time, he also served as the Director of the Intensive Care Unit, where he established and ran a respiratory therapy training program.
Dr. Wahla received his medical degree from the Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, US, where he also completed his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Wahla completed a one year fellowship in Interventional Pulmonology.

Dr. Al Nuaimi graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Al Ain in 1999 and afterward joined Zayed military hospital, in the year 2001 she pursued further training in Canada, in which she joined the pediatric residency training program in Calgary in July 2001 and graduated in 2004 from the Royal College of Surgeons in Canada and as well American board of pediatrics as a general pediatrician. Following that she completed fellowship training in pediatric pulmonary/ Respirology at Alberta children’s hospital in Calgary with special focus on intensive care. She joined back Zayed military hospital in October 2006 and has been appointed the head of the pediatric department in 2011-2013.
She completed an Executive Masters in Healthcare Administration in 2010 with honors, and then a master’s degree in biomedical ethics and law from the Royal College of Ireland in 2014; she has special interest in military medical ethics. She has been active in multiple hospital administrative committees including chairing the ethical committee for Zayed military hospital, She is a part-time pulmonologist at Sheikh Khalifa hospital SKMC which is another major tertiary hospital in Abu Dhabi and have helped establish the UAE pediatric pulmonary group which has an active role in teaching and raising awareness in the city of Abu Dhabi in regards to common pediatric pulmonary problems for pediatricians and the general practitioner.

Dr. David Cremonesini

Dr David Cremonisini is trained and qualified in Paediatrics and Allergy in the UK. He studied at Oxford University and then in London and has worked as a Paediatrician since 1997. He has worked at Royal Brompton Hospital specialising in breathing problems and in 2018 graduated from the University of Southampton with an MSc in Allergy.
Dr David has worked as a consultant in Paediatrics in UK since 2010. From 2014 – 2016 he was a consultant paediatrician at American Hospital, Dubai. He is a general paediatrician but has a speciality in allergy and performs skin prick tests and food challenges. He can manage all allergic conditions including asthma, eczema, food allergy, anaphylaxis.
He also works with the dietician at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital and has links with ENT, dermatology and lung function laboratory. He also looks after children with breathing problems such as cough, breathlessness and has links with chest physiotherapy.

Dr. Martinez received his Bachelor of Science and MD at the University of Florida, and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Beth Israel Hospital/Harvard Medical School in 1986. He then pursued a Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Boston University prior to joining University of Michigan Medical Center as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in 1991. He rose to the rank of Professor of Medicine at University of Michigan in 2002 and is currently Professor of Medicine and Associate Chief of Clinical Research at University of Michigan Medical Center.
Dr. Martinez is a premiere translational researcher in chronic lung disease and is nationally and internationally recognized for his seminal studies in the phenotypic and functional classification, and clinical interventions in COPD and interstitial lung disease. His research has been funded by the NHLBI/NIH for the past 2 decades and he has served as principal investigator on numerous NIH grants (K award, R01’s, U01, P50).

Hassan S. Alorainy completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Respiratory Care from Loma Linda University (LLU), California, USA in 1987. He obtained the American Board in Respiratory Care (RRT) in 1986 and became the first Saudi National to acquire a degree and pass the American Board.
In 1987, Alorainy Started employment at KFSH&RC as a Staff
Respiratory Therapist for 2 years, a supervisor for 5 years, Assistant Head for 7 years, Head, Respiratory Care Services for 6 years, and served as Senior Respiratory Specialist for 6 years. Retired in May 2018.
Throughout the years Hassan S. Alorainy served as member of multiple regional and international committees, including positions such as executive director, Saudi Thoracic Society and Gulf Thoracic Congress (2006-2020). Currently, he serves as Executive Director, Saudi Association for Pulmonary Hypertension (SAPH)
Throughout his career attended more than 70 International conferences around the world, about half as a speaker in the United States, Japan, Canada, Taiwan, Greece, India, S Korea, Iran, and China and many Arab countries.
In 2006 he received the prestigious award of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC), the HL Garza Award for International Achievement of Excellence in Respiratory Care and became a fellow (FAARC) of the AARC.

Professor Ian Pavord is Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Oxford and Honorary Consultant Physician at the Oxford University Hospitals.
