Dr. Hussam Ismael is an American board-certified thoracic surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons with extensive expertise in robotic thoracic oncology. He completed his surgical training at prestigious institutions including Henry Ford Hospital (internship), University of South Florida (general surgery residency), and specialized in surgical thoracic oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center.
With over 500 robotic procedures performed in thoracic oncology and general surgery, Dr. Ismael brings cutting-edge minimally invasive techniques to patient care at American Hospital Dubai. His robotic surgery experience encompasses complex lung resections, mediastinal tumor excisions, and advanced general surgical procedures.
As an Associate Professor of Surgery at University of Sharjah, Dr. Ismael is deeply committed to surgical education and innovation. He actively contributes to research in thoracic oncology outcomes and robotic surgical techniques while training the next generation of surgeons. His academic work bridges clinical excellence with technological advancement in surgical practice.

Dr. Usman Ahmad is a distinguished thoracic surgeon and leader in thoracic oncology and lung transplantation, currently serving as Department Chair of Thoracic Surgery and Lung Transplantation at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. A graduate of Aga Khan University Medical College, he completed extensive training including a research fellowship at Yale School of Medicine, general surgery residency at Yale (serving as Chief Resident), and cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and New York Presbyterian Hospital.
As Director of the Thoracic Robotic Surgery Program, Dr. Ahmad brings cutting-edge minimally invasive techniques to complex thoracic procedures. His clinical expertise spans lung cancer surgery, thymic malignancies, and advanced therapies for end-stage lung disease. He maintains joint appointments with the Taussig Cancer Institute and leads innovative research in thoracic oncology outcomes.
An active member of STS, AATS, IASLC and ITMIG, Dr. Ahmad has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He regularly presents his research at international conferences including the American Association of Thoracic Surgery meetings, contributing to advancements in thoracic surgical techniques and cancer care.
